How can a Life Coach make a difference? Answers to FAQs about Life Coaching
Question 1: Why do people have coaching? Answer: Every year we give our cars an MOT and our boilers a service all in an attempt to ensure that they run to the best of their ability. People are drawn to coaching in an attempt to ensure that all aspects of their lives are being fulfilled to their greatest potential.
Question 2: What does a coach do that my friends and family can't? Answer: Whilst our friends and family may have our best interests at heart, they often have a vested interest in the decisions we take. Whilst a coach also has your best interests at heart they have nothing to gain from the decisions you make about your life. Their primary interest is in supporting you to achieve the goals you set yourself.
Question 3: Will a coach advice me about what to do? Answer: A coach will never advise you what to do. With your permission they may challenge you to consider a range of options. They cannot solve your problems but they can help you to find the answers.
Question 4: What is the difference between coaching and counselling? Answer: Both coaching and counselling have elements that are similar. They both focus on the clients needs. They both involve listening to and questioning the client. Counselling is however primarily focused on the past and how it effects the present. Coaching is focused on the present and helping you to achieve the best possible future.
Question 5: Is coaching over the phone as effective as face to face? Answer: Both face to face and telephone coaching are extremely effective. Some clients feel they are able to express themselves more freely over the telephone. They find it easier to be honest and open. The practical advantage of telephone coaching is you are able to experience coaching wherever you are. If your time is limited telephone coaching can save you travelling time.
