23rd November
I have just returned from 4 fantastic days at the health farm. I can highly recommend it for recharging your batteries and creating the time and space to reflect on your life.
With China in mind I promised myself I would spend some time exercising and managed to persuade my friend Kathryn to join me on a bike ride. I havn't laughed so much in ages. As I approached the first reasonably small incline the anormity of the task ahead to cycle China hit home.
After loosening the legs and managing to cycle for an hour, give or take the occasional need to push the bike I returned to the hotel with a real sense of achievement. China here I come...
Wednesday 11th November
Its Wednesday 11th November and today i went for my first session with my new fitness instructor Emma. Having explained what I was hoping to achieve I have to say I was very impressed that she managed to keep a straight face and refrain from laughing.
Emma has designed quite a simple programme to start, aimed at gradually increasing my fitness and losing the weight. (She called it simple).
If you have ever tried to stay on a stair master for 10 mins carrying alot of excess weight you'll understand my hesitation in calling my programme simple. Emma reassured me that things will get easier!!!!! Next followed a 15 min session on the exercise bike. Imagine my horror when the bike kindly pointed out I had cycled 4km.
'Oh my' how am i going to manage 450km! Slow and steady I guess. I have made a start so watch this space over the coming months and see how things progress.
